Who we are

City Clay is a community of people who are interested in the clay arts. It is a place to learn new skills, explore ideas, share the love of learning, and create. Our philosophy embraces both the time honored pottery traditions and the approach to clay as an art material irrespective of tradition. This studio is centered on the creative process and the joy of community.

We opened on West Main Street in downtown Charlottesville on September 2, 2011. To make room for a new hotel, we moved 21 months later to our new, fabulous location in the old Silk Mills (circa 1890).
