September 2020—- *DATE CHANGE*, ZOOM- Basic Hand Building with Randy Bill
This ZOOM class is designed for adults 18 and older who are new to clay and working from home. Basic Hand-building is a great place to start developing pottery skills. Students will learn various techniques for working with flat slabs of clay for a variety of pots including mugs, trays, and bowls Surface design techniques like stamping, carving, and working with underglazes will be covered. Not only will you be designing from the first day, but you will develop a feel for clay and what can be done at different stages in the process, useful for any clay methods from wheel throwing to sculpture.

Date: NEW START DATE-Mondays, September 14- October 5 2020, 4weeks
MATERIALS LIST: If you are firing at home you can use whatever clay you like. If you are firing at City Clay you can choose one of our stoneware clays in any color you prefer. I recommend our white 630 stoneware. It is easy to work with and our color samples for glazing are based on that clay. To protect our kilns, It is our policy that all clay and any commercial glazes you use be from our shop.

A plastic rib, a scoring tool, a small flat authentic paint brush (1/4)
- Clay, a clay cutter, a small bowl for water, and plastic for covering your work
- A variety of hand tools as needed, many can be improvised
