Spring 2019— Basic Hand Building with Steve Palmer, M 6:30-9:00
Hand Building is the basis for all ceramics, from functional pottery to sculpture. Some of the most sophisticated work in ceramics today is handbuilt. If you are new to clay, this is a great way to start. If you are a wheel-thrower, consider a hand building class to free you up in ways that will surprise you. Students will use slabs to make pots like cups, pitchers and trays. Surface design techniques including stamping and glazing will be covered.
Basic classes are for absolute beginners and anyone who wants to start from the very beginning. Students will use slabs to make pots, cups, pitchers, and trays. Surface design techniques like water etching, stamping, and glazing will be covered.
