October 2020—ZOOM class—Intermediate Hand-building with Steve Palmer DAY
This class is designed for students with some experience in hand building. We will work with slab construction to make a variety of pieces. We will explore different ways to shape and alter the clay through texture, darting, underglaze, stamping, etc.

Supplies: work board, standard hand building tools, pony roller, fettling knife, wooden ribs, sponge, ruler, small bristle paint brush, old toothbrush, texture roller, stamps, pin tool, and round cookie cutters. Slip In you preferred clay body.
Most of these tools are available in the City Clay shop except for old toothbrushes and slip! The studio is open for shopping, dropping off pots to be fired, and picking up pots, rolling slabs, and for using the dipping glazes. If you choose to use slab roller, please bring a board and plastic to transport your slab home. If you would prefer to roll out your slabs by hand, we have supplies to help you in our shop including new boards 12" x 16" and 16" x 24" as well as rollers and and roller sticks for making 1/4 " slabs. There will be 18 bisque ware press mold pots for purchase so you can use those at home too.
The price of the clay includes two firings for every piece you want to keep plus the use of our dipping glazes. To protect our kilns, It is our policy that all clay and any commercial glazes you use be from our shop.
