Summer 2019, Tile Making Workshop with Julie Madden
Tile Workshop inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement
Get inspired by the exquisitely patterned florals and flowing lines of William Morris as you create tiles based on his designs or your own. Known for his lush patterns, both symmetrical and asymmetrical, William Morris represented the finest attributes of the Arts and Crafts Movement that flourished in the late 1800’s.
This one day workshop will cover the many facets of tile making from construction, decoration, carving, underglaze, slip trailing, wax resist, and more. The use of tile in mosaics, overall patterning, and firing will be discussed. You will work on green as well as bisqued tiles.
Bring your own tools if you have them, or we can supply.
Lunch (bagel sandwiches from Bodos) and refreshments are provided
