In this course you will learn how to create plaster press molds from your own sculpted decorations and/or found objects. We will cover safe plaster usage, identifying and avoiding undercuts, and cleaning your molds to generate good copies. After making at least one mold, each student will press a collection of copies to incorporate into a larger handbuilt composition. All levels welcome.

Instructor Bio: | Sophie Gibson is a ceramic sculptor, painter, and stop-motion animator who takes inspiration from people and natural environments. Sophie spent her undergraduate career in Providence, Rhode Island attending both the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University as a member of the Brown | RISD Dual Degree Program and earned a a B.F.A. in Illustration and B.A. in History. since then she has been an apprentice in the studio of internationally recognized ceramic sculptor Cristina Cordova and the studio manager at CityClay. Sophie currently maintains a studio practice at Visible Records building in Charlottesville. |
