Students will make a variety of fun projects that may include toad or fairy houses, pots they can use, and creature sculptures.

Skill Details: | This class is an introductory class. Throwing on the wheel takes a long time to master, but it is great fun in the process and a life long love for many who try it. This class will give teens a chance to see if they want to pursue this further. |
Materials Included: | Clay and hand building tools are provided along with glazes and firings for up to 10 pots for each student. |

Instructor Bio: | Maddie Salapow is a fine artist and art teacher who grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018 with a BFA in Printmaking and a concentration in Illustration. In 2019, she earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the same school. She is a certified K-12 art teacher in Virginia and currently teaches elementary art in Albermarle County. Maddie has also been working on her personal art practice as an incubator artist at Charlottesville's McGuffey Art Center. Her personal work combines her love of illustrative storytelling, printmaking, and ceramics. |
