In addition to the work you choose to pursue, there will be a series of talks and demonstrations on a wide variety of surface design techniques including traditional and alternative techniques. For those who are interested, we will also explore extruded forms and laminate slabs.

Skill Details: | In this session of Independent Study we will focus on exploring and developing surface design techniques including traditional and non-traditional methods. Research, experiments and flights of fancy will be the order of the day with lots of fun tangents. You can pick and chose from the smorgasbord of offerings. |
Requirements: | Students must have good skills and a working knowledge of at least one ceramic process - hand building, wheel throwing or sculpture. To protect our kiln clay must be purchased form our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use, and we have a wide variety of commercials glazes available.. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. Your are welcome to bring your own tools or buy new ones in our shop. |

Instructor Bio: | Randy has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a mixed media artist working primarily with clay and has taught ceramics for 31 years. She is also gardener and the founder of CityClay. |
