WINTER 2024: Multi-level Wheel with Noah Hughey-Commers - Thursdays, 1:30pm



This Multi-Level Wheel class is for students with basic to advanced wheel skills. Noah will tailor the class to the needs of individuals and the group including basic skill practices for new students, refinement of skills for experienced students as well as lessons on more complex processes for those who are ready. A mixed group of students is a great opportunity for new students to learn, and for returning students to work on their own level and at their own pace. 


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Students will work on refining their skills through review and the exploration of more complex forms Students MUST have good basic skills, this class is not for beginners.
Materials Included: The class fee includes aprons, towels, and a shelf for your clay and supplies.
Requirements: To protect our kilns, clay must be purchased form our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use, and we have a wide variety of commercials glazes available. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes to be used in our kilns. Your are welcome to bring your own tools or buy new ones in our shop.
Instructor: Noah Hughey-Commers
Instructor Bio: As a child, Noah got to help fire wood kilns with Kevin Crowe at Tye River Pottery, learning to love the mechanics of kilns and their connection to process and making. Later on as a teenager he began making pottery, working with Kevin and later, at Piedmont Virginia Community College with Tom Clarkson. He received a bachelors in English from The University of Mary Washington and afterwards returned for a two year apprenticeship at Tye River. With his study completed, Noah spent a few months in the UK exploring other techniques and pottery styles and then came home to design and build his own studio and kiln.
