SPRING 2024: Intermediate and Advanced Wheel Nancy Ross, Tuesdays 1:00pm

This class is for students with basic throwing skills well in hand. Tips on complex forms and techniques will help you improve your throwing skills and designs. Expect to use your clay more fully and grow both your basic and more challenging forms.

Skill Level: Advanced
Skill Details: Students should be able to center, throw, trim and glaze independently.
Materials Included: The class fee includes aprons, towels, and a shelf for your clay and supplies.
Requirements: To protect our kilns, clay must be purchased from our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use, and we have a wide variety of commercials glazes available. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. Your are welcome to bring your own tools or buy new ones in our shop.
Instructor: Nancy Ross
Instructor Bio: "I have been a potter since 1973, when I took a community pottery course and said, 'This is what I want to do.' "I guess I was right, as I'm still at it 48 years later." Nancy taught Ceramics at Mary Baldwin College for 21 years, and for a number of years at Piedmont Community college. Over the last 9 years Nancy has taught many CityClay workshops on a variety of subjects including basic kiln operations and throwing and wiring lamps among others. Nancy regularly teaches wheel throwing class at CityClay and she is one of the founding members and longtime president of the Artisan Studio Tour, the annual area showcase for regional craftsman. She is a professional potter who exhibits in many local and statewide shows.
This 10-week class includes aprons, towels, and a shelf for your supplies and projects.
