SUMMER 2024: Multi Level Wheel with Shari Jacobs, Fridays, 10:00am

With a focus on technique and skill refinement, classes will encourage exploration and design development for more complex work. Expect to use the clay more fully and grow both your basic and more challenging forms.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Students will work on refining their basic skills, developing new skills and working on more complex forms. Students work at their level and pace.
Materials Included: The class fee includes aprons, towels, and a shelf for your clay and supplies.
Requirements: To protect our kilns, clay must be purchased from our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use, and we have a wide variety of commercials glazes available. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. Your are welcome to bring your own tools or buy new ones in our shop.
Instructor: Shari Jacobs
Instructor Bio: Originally from the Midwest, I have called central Virginia home for over 20 years. In 2022, I earned an MFA in ceramics from Hood College in Frederick, MD, and have since taught ceramics at Mary Baldwin University and Woodberry Forest School. In my own studio, I make functional, wheel-thrown porcelain and stoneware vessels intended for daily use. I enjoy the unique surface qualities created in the atmosphere of wood and soda-fired kilns coupled with the delicate quality of dramatic curves. Often ceramics are one or the other: rustic or refined. I like to think mine are both.
The class fee includes 9 class sessions, aprons, towels, and a shelf for your clay and supplies.
