WINTER 2025: UVA Clay Club - 6 weeks, Sundays 6:30pm - 9:00pm; January 19 - February 23
Students will learn basic throwing skills with more advanced techniques as needed.This studio is an educational venue, it is not equipped for production level work. We ask that you focus on developing your skills and creativity.
We have some studio tools you can borrow when available. You can also buy your own tools in our shop. As for clay, we will have "catch and release" clay for practice in class. To protect our kilns, clay for work you want to keep must be purchased from our shop. We have a wide variety of cone 6 clays that can be bought in full or half bags. We provide aprons and towels.

Skill Details: | Basic skills will be taught with an emphasis on good studio habits. Intermediates skills will be taught as needed. |
Materials Included: | The class fee includes aprons, towels, and a shelf for your clay and supplies. |
Requirements: | Students should be a member of the UVA Clay Club and they must be current undergraduates, or post graduate students. UVA employees and alumni are not eligible. |
Instructor: | Raquel Miralles |
Instructor Bio: | Raquel is a neuroscience PhD candidate at the University of Virginia. She began studying ceramics in Portland, Oregon before coming to CityClay. Her focus is on functional forms with intricate, nature inspired surface design. |
