Winter 2026: Misc., Independent Study, Thursday Mornings with Randy Bill, 10 weeks



Each maker is encouraged to come with ideas to explore independently in this 10 week class. You will have the support of your classmates and teachers through spontaneous discussions and relevant skill demonstrations. This class is about supporting you as you strive to develop your ideas and your way with clay. There are no mandatory projects in this class but projects can be offered for those who prefer that structure. The focus is on following your own ideas and diving deep into the projects that excites you. 


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Students will explore vessel forms by building with component parts which can be hand built, wheel thrown or sculpted.
Requirements: Students MUST have good wheel throwing skills. To protect our kiln clay must be purchased from our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use, and we have a wide variety of commercials glazes available.. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. Your are welcome to bring your own tools or buy new ones in our shop.
Instructor: Randy Bill
Instructor Bio: Randy has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a mixed media artist working primarily with clay and has taught ceramics for 36 years. She is also a gardener and the founder of CityClay.

The fee for this 10 week class includes a shelf for storing your tools and work, free bisque firing and access to open studio when space is available.
