Fall 2019 — Hand Building with Randy Bill, W 1:00-3:30, 8 weeks
If you are new to clay this is a great place to start.
Basic Hand-Building is particularly good for absolute beginners and anyone with a little experience who wants to start from the very beginning. Students will use slabs to make a variety of pots like cups, pitchers, bowls, and trays. Surface design techniques like water etching, decals, stamping, carving, and glazing will be covered. Not only will you be designing from the first day, but you will develop a feel for clay and what can be done at what stages. You will also learn how to prepare clay for your projects and how to store it properly. All of this helps later if you decide you want to work on the wheel.
You will need some supplies for this class, which can be purchased on the first day of class. New students may use our studio tools or buy a few standard supplies to keep on your shelf. Check out our shop when you come to class.
