Summer 2020—Practical Glaze Making with Judd Jarvis, W 6:30-9:00

$ 260.00

Governor Northam has closed non-essential businesses until late April—that includes craft and art centers. So sadly our spring session is cancelled. With the hope that we will be able to open in June, the summer class schedule will begin the week of June 15. Many of the summer classes are exactly the same as the spring classes. If you signed up for a spring class that is running on the same day of the week and at the same time, you are now in the same, summer class until you tell us otherwise. If you need to drop the class we will issue a refund for you, just email us. If you see a summer class that you want and it is full, check back frequently as we expect there will be a number of changes to the roster as spring students adjust their schedules. You can also send us an email asking to be put on a wait list.

Some of our teachers cannot teach in the summer including Becky Garrity, Patrick Gibson and Sophie Gibson. If you are in one of those spring classes, you need to look at the new schedule for an alternate class or ask for a refund. If you find another class that would work for you, please email us so we can make the change for you and either issue a refund if it is a shorter class than your spring class would have been, or we will let you know what the balance would be.Thank you for your patience with this.

Practical Glaze Making is for those with intermediate of advanced skills in either wheel throwing or handbuilding. What is a glaze? How can you control what happens in the firing? Do you want to make your own glazes? This class will cover safety issues, the composition of clay and glaze, mixing established recipes, melting various materials, making glazes from scratch, and testing—lots of testing. Fear not, this is a lot more fun than your high school chemistry class.

Prerequisite: students should be on an intermediate to advanced level.

Teacher: Judd Jarvis

Dates:  Wednesdays, June 17- August 5, 8 weeks

Time: 6:30-9:00
