Summer 2019— Basic Wheel with Patrick Gibson, F 12:00-2:30, 8 weeks
Basic Wheel classes are for absolute beginners and those who want a refresher. Students will learn basic wheel skills while making lots of funny mistakes and big messes—there’s no way around it. So come make bowls, cups, and vases, from start to finish, and don’t forget to bring a sense of humor. It's just mud, which, through a bit of alchemy you will turn into something useful, cute, beautiful, or hilarious. So fun!
Students will need some supplies for this class. Beginning students should buy the 630 White Stoneware the first day of class, others may choose from the other options from the shop. New students may use our studio tools or buy the beginner kit, also in the shop. Only need a few tools? Check out our shop when you come to class.
To protect our kilns, all clay and commercial glazes must be purchased from our shop. The price of our clays includes all the firings and the use of our dipping glazes. Commercial glazes are only offered as an option. Our shop has expanded with a wide range of tools, and mid-range clays and glazes. Special thanks to Baltimore and Richmond Clayworks for their support and help with our shop. The sale of our products helps support the existence of this studio.
