Winter 2019, Workshop—Glaze Like You Mean It with Steve Palmer
So the shapes of your pots are improving, but they are still not what you had hoped. It's time to dress up that mud with exciting textural and colorful surfaces. Steve Palmer, the studio master of surface design, will take you further into many of the decorative possibilities. You will explore techniques on samples and/or on your own work. Bring your own leather-hard pots for the first day of this workshop so you can begin carving, piercing, stenciling, stamping, and water etching. You can also experiment with decals and sgraffito. All of this will be done with an eye toward developing designs that fit and enhance the shape of your pots. The second day of the workshop will be for glazing bisqueware. We will bisque what we can from the first day, but you are welcome to bring additional bisqued pots for glazing
Bring your clay and tools. We have a well-stocked shop if you need anything.
